B.S.A. Lee Enfield #1 MkIII
Dated 1939 Arsenal Rebuilt in 1956
This is a fully rebuilt rifle
done at the B.S.A. factory. It has new beech wood with the
date 1956 stamped behind the trigger guard. The new barrel
was 'nitro proofed' and has the 'HV' stamp for use with the
Mark VII spitzer high velocity ammunition. The rear sight
has been updated for the new ammo. The late style bolt is
not matched to the gun which would not be unusual for a
refurbished gun. The bolt face is like new and the bore is
excellent. It probably was never fired after it left the
arsenal. Besides being 'factory fresh' this rifle still
retains the original magazine cutoff plate which in itself
is a rare feature to find now. This rifle is the closest
thing to a brand new SMLE #1 MkIII you will probably ever
Overall a very nice, clean rifle that
would be a good shooter and an excellent addition to any collection.
I have a very nice M1907 bayonet and
scabbard which would go nice with this rifle.
