Enfield #1
MkIII* Rifle
GRI Arsenal dated 1923
with Magazine Cutoff Plate
in .303
This is a very nice rifle with
all matching numbers except the magazine. Very nice example
of a pre WW2 Enfield.
The wood on this one is in very good
condition with the usual dents and dings. There is a filler
plug in the stock disc recess. Although not marked as
refurbished, it has a repair pin in the front handguard and
the reinforcing screw in front of the mag well. The rear
handguard has a repaired crack as well. There is about 80%
blue left on the metal with the protected barrel having
about 95% left. The bore is excellent with good
strong rifling and a bit of cosmoline, about a 9/10. The bolt,
nosecap and rear sight numbers all
match the receiver. It is import marked lightly on the left
side of the receiver. This is probably one of the last
Enfields produced with the magazine cutoff plate.
Overall a very nice collectable rifle that
would be an excellent shooter and a great addition to any collection.
