Japanese Type
99 Rifle
Nagoya Arsenal Series 2
with AA Rear Sight
in 7.7x58 Jap
This is an very nice
mid-war rifle with about 90% blue left. The mum has been
ground off as typical of the majority of these rifles. The
stock is very clean with almost no dents or dings. It
appears to have been stripped of the red varnish these were
usually finished with but if any sanding was done it was
very light. The buttstock joint is sound. The bore is not
chrome lined but it is in excellent condition, about 9+/10.
The bolt is not matched to the receiver but all the parts of
the bolt match. It has the early knurled safety knob. This
one has the anti-aircraft rear sight and the early style
front sight.
This is rifle is from my personal
collection. Thinning out the herd a bit.
I found information on the web about
making 7.7 Jap cases from 30-06 shells. It works and I use
the same load data as for the British .303 ammo. I do keep
the pressures on the lower side to be safe.
Overall an excellent example and would
make a good shooter or addition to any collection.
