Lehigh Valley Rifle

in the white

in .54 caliber

I assembled this rifle from parts laying around. I thought someone else might like to have fun finishing it out.

It has a nice curly maple stock with curl all the way down but the figure doesn't show up well in the photos. Also you will notice a small filler piece added in front of the lock. Once it's stained and finished this filler should just about disappear. The stock also has a sterling silver inlay on the cheek. The lock is a Dixie Gun Works early Ketland. These are really good locks since they use the smaller internals of some of the other locks that Dixie once carried. Smaller internals means a faster action and this one sparks very well. The lock one has a few dents just behind the pan but with a little work they will polish out. The barrel is a Colerain "C" weight 44" long .54 caliber. It has a touch hole liner installed. The mounts are brass and are all commercial except for the trigger guard which was cast here in the shop.

This slender rifle balances and points very nicely and with a little work it would make a nice finished gun. Everything is installed and it's ready to shoot. Finish it as is or dress it up by adding a patchbox, carving and engraving.

Weight is 8 lbs. Pull is 14".
