Izhevsk Arsenal Dated 1948
This is an very nice
post WW2 rifle with about 99+% blue left. 1948 was the last
year the M44s were made, the AK47s were starting to replace
them. All numbers match.
This one looks like it just left the arsenal. I don't
believe it was ever issued.
The stock is very clean with no dents
or dings to the arsenal varnish finish. The
bolt is still bright. The bore is excellent with deep
grooves and bright shine. The muzzle is not counterbored.
From looking at the face of the bolt and the magazine
follower, this rifle has never been fired since
it left the arsenal. Also the faint slanted discolored marks
in the finish is from the paper wrapping the gun was stored
in at the arsenal after it was made. This is a good
indication that not only was the gun not refinished but
never issued as well. About as new as you can get.
This is rifle is from my personal
collection. Thinning out the herd a bit.
Overall an excellent example and would
make a great shooter or addition to any collection.
