This is a very nice carbine that
according to the serial number was made in 1945.
The walnut stock is very sound for
the age with the typical dents and dings from use over the
years. The buttplate is lightly pitted in areas and is
mostly grey now. The
receiver is in very good condition and has turned to a grey
color. Lever is also grey with very light pitting on the
edges. Action is smooth and locks up tight. The saddle ring
is still intact which is rare.
The barrel and tube have about 90%
blue left. The bore is excellent with sharp rifling. It has
a period original Lyman tang mounted peep sight installed
early in the life of the gun. The original rear sight was
removed and filled in with a blank when the tang sight was
installed. It's rare to find the tang sight still attached
as these are often removed and sold off separately for
$300-$400 by themselves.
Overall a very nice gun that would
be a good shooter, great hunting caliber and the tang sight
is an added bonus.
This gun must be
shipped to a FFL or C&R holder or can purchased in person.
