Lee Enfield #4 MkI*

 U.S. Property Marked by Savage

in .303

These U.S. Property marked Enfields were part of the Lend-Lease program that we used to help out England during WW2. They were made by the Stevens subsidiary of Savage Arms.

This rifle is a nice example. The walnut wood has the usual dents and dings from use and handling over the years. The rear handguard has a repaired crack otherwise the wood is very good/excellent for the age. The metal parts are losing some for the finish in places but there has never been any rust to cause pitting in the past. The action works smoothly and the 2 groove rifled bore is very good and would rate 8+/10 for condition. All numbers match including the bolt. I have had three of these Savage/Stevens Enfields and none were dated but they were produced between 1941 and 1945. The serial number puts this one probably somewhere late 1942 to early 1943.

Overall a very nice, clean rifle that would be a good shooter and an excellent addition to any collection.

The pictures will tell you more. Contact me if you need pictures of something I missed.
