English Trade Gun

in 20 gauge

This is a custom made gun by Sweet William out of Vermont. There are some areas of loose wood to metal fit and the barrel has been bedded. The gun is lightly used as the owner is into the earlier pirate period. Bore is in very good condition and I added a touch hole liner.

It has a walnut stock that was cracked through the wrist and a period repair was done. It was glued back with pins to strengthen the joint and then a thin brass sheet was nail on with hand forged tacks. Very typical of many of the old guns. The muzzle end of the stock had a crack as well and I epoxied it and installed a nose band to strengthen it. The lock is a Chamber's English style flint. The 20 gauge barrel is by the Mold & Gun shop and is 41" long which tapers from octagon to 16 flats then turns round. Hardware is brass.

Overall a nice period correct style with a neat period repair and natural patina!

Weight is 8 lbs. Pull is 13".
