Custom Fowler

by F.G. Benedict in 20 gauge

This is an interesting fowler. It has English styling with Germanic carving. The lock is an L&R Queen Anne. The barrel is a Colerain which has the thicker walls ideal for shot or ball. The stock is a nice piece of curly maple. Overall the gun is well made but the fit of parts could have been a little better. There are a few minor places where wood chipped out around the sideplate and guard tips. The buttplate and barrel tang have filler added at places around the edge. Hard to see unless you look closely. The wrist inlay is bone. The lock has been snapped a few times but the gun has never been fired. Overall a very nice fowler.

Weight is 8 lbs. 6 oz. Length of pull is 14".
