This is a new,
unfired 1740 Early English trade gun built from one of my kits. The
beech
stock has been stained very dark. there is a check in
the wood on the left side of the barrel channel which
has been solidly repaired. It also has a piece of wood
glued in at the rear of the left lock panel to repair a
check in the wood. Beech is a difficult wood to dry
properly without checking. This stock was too nice not
to repair the minor problems. These repairs are very
solid and should not cause any problems in the future. The
Colerain barrel is 42" long in 20
gauge (.62 cal.) and has front and rear sights. There is a touch hole liner. It also
has the proof and maker's stamps at the breech. The lock
is a Davis Early Colonial. The metal parts have all be
aged.
Weight is 7 lbs.
4 oz.
Pull is 13½".
