This is a very nicely made Lancaster rifle by Don Greene of Staunton, Va. This
gun was made many years ago as Don has been dead about 12 years now.
It is stocked in a moderately curly maple stained to a medium brown
and finished with a hand-rubbed oil finish. The patchbox is a sliding wood one
and the release is the raised button in the center of the flower. The lock is a
large Siler flintlock. The barrel is a Green Mountain blank that Don rifled in
his shop. His barrels were well know locally for being very good shooters. It is
a straight 40" long,
7/8" across the flats straight in .40 caliber.
There is a touch hole liner. The bore is excellent. The double triggers will
fire set or unset. The gun is mounted in steel. The steel parts are
lightly browned. The inlets are very tight and styling is very clean. Overall a very nice, well made rifle.
Weight is 9 lbs. 9 oz. Pull is 13¾".
