Late Virginia Rifle circa 1820's

This is a late Virginia style rifle with English influences. It is mounted in iron and has been aged. The wood is curly maple with a hand rubbed oil finish. The barrel is a Colrain 44" B weight in .50 caliber. The lock is a Chamber's late Ketland with a brass lock plate. The wrist has been checkered in an English style with steel pins between the lines. The nosecap is poured pewter. The trigger guard is copied from a Virginia Manufactory military rifle circa 1806. The rifle weighs 6½ lbs.
