This is a very nice custom longrifle made
by Don Greene of Staunton, VA and is lightly used.
This rifle is stocked in a piece of
very nice curly maple that that is stained to a nice medium brown. The hardware is
German silver with a bright polish. The barrel is a straight 13/16", 42" long in
.40 caliber. Don rifled his own barrels from Green Mountain blanks and were
known for their accuracy. There is a touch hole liner. The bore
is dusty but excellent condition. The lock is a W. C. Cochran late flint style.
The steel parts have a deep brown color. The double triggers must be set before
cocking and firing. There is a small oval inlay on the bottom of the stock with
a previous owner's initials. This is a nice slender gun. It is fine as is but
some engraving on the silver parts would really dress this gun up nicely.
Overall excellent workmanship. Inlets are tight and well done. Holds
and balances very nicely.
Weight is 7 lbs. 12 oz. Pull is 14".
