This is a nice Tennessee rifle made by J. P. Gunstocks back in the 1990s. They
were stock suppliers but also produced semi-custom guns on the side. This one
appears to be unfired. Overall it looks brand new. No dents or dings to the wood
and no scratches in the metal. I think the name they used on the barrel,
J.P. McCoy, was a reference to the well-known Hatfield and McCoy feud in West
Virginia/Kentucky running from 1863 to 1891.
This rifle is stocked in a piece of
curly maple with steel hardware that has been browned to a dark finish. The barrel
was made by Green Mountain and is
a straight 13/16" across the flats, 42" long in
.32 caliber. There is a touch hole liner. The bore
is excellent. The lock is a L&R Manton style.
The double set triggers can be fired set or unset.
Inlets are tight and well done. Overall a very nice and well styled rifle. Holds
and balances very nicely.
Weight is 8 lbs. Pull is 14½".
