This is a very nice boy's rifle by M. Berry. It was made many years ago but has
seen very little use and is in excellent condition inside and out.
This rifle is stocked in a piece of
very nice curly maple that that is stained to a nice medium reddish brown. The hardware is
brass and the thimbles, sideplate, nosecap and patchbox are handmade by the
builder. The barrel is probably a custom Ed Rayl
32" long with a slight swamp in
.40 caliber. The bore is in excellent condition with deep radius groove rifling
and there is a touch hole liner.
The lock is a nice one that was marketed by Dixie Gun Works many years ago and
is a very reliable lock with a fast action.
The steel parts have an aged brown/grey color. Overall it is in excellent condition.
Total length is 45½" long.
Holds
and balances very nicely.
Weight is 4 lbs. 10 oz. Pull is 12½".
