This is a very nicely made Southern rifle that is like new with very little
frizzen wear. I don't know who made it but it is very well made.
It is stocked in a beautiful curly maple stained to a light brown which brings
out the figure nicely. It does have a long pull and very deep 4½"
drop at the butt. Perfect for someone over 6' tall with long arms. The patchbox is a
pry-open lid style with no engraving. The lock is a
small Siler flintlock. The barrel is
a straight 42" long,
¾" across the flats in .40 caliber.
I haven't pulled it to check the maker but might be a Rice barrel. There is a touch hole liner. The bore is excellent. The
Davis double triggers will
fire set or unset. The gun is mounted in brass which includes a chevroned
nosecap. The steel parts are
lightly browned. The inlets are very tight and styling is very clean. Overall a very nice, well made rifle.
Weight is 6 lbs. 14 oz. Pull is 14½".
Drop at heel is 4½"
