This is a very nice, well made Virginia style rifle by Chuck Hinkle. I'd keep it
if I could afford it!
This rifle is lightly used and in very good condition.
It is stocked in a nice piece of walnut. The patchbox has a silver engraved
overlay which adds a nice touch. The raised carving is well done and the silver
wire accents it nicely. The inlay on the cheek is a silver and brass sun/moon
style which is Chuck's signature.
The barrel is
an oct-round 44" long Rice in .50 caliber.
There is a touch hole liner. The bore is
excellent. The nosecap is poured pewter and well done with the chevrons and
exposed wood sections. The lock is a large Siler flint with a little reworking
and engraving. The gun is mounted
in iron with an applied patina to give an aged look.
Inlets are tight and well done. Overall a very nice and well styled rifle.
Weight is 8 lbs. 7 oz. Pull is 14".
