This is a very nicely made custom rifle by
Allen Sandy. It was made for the current owner. Allen is well known for his
silver embellished guns, this rifle he considered a "plain" rifle according to
the owner.
It is stocked in a moderately curly maple stained to a medium brown
and finished with a hand-rubbed oil finish. The lock is an R. E. Davis
Continental flintlock. The barrel is swamped 40"
long in .54 caliber.
There is a touch hole liner. The bore is excellent. The gun originally had set
triggers but the owner had Allen change them to a single trigger. The inlet is
long enough to change back to double set triggers if preferred. The brass parts have been
polished to a nice satin and have some natural patina now. The steel parts are
lightly browned. The inlets are very tight and styling is very clean.
Comes with the woven sling pictured. Overall a very nice, well made rifle.
Weight is 8 lbs. 9 oz. Pull is 13¼".
