This particular rifle has a .54 caliber 36" long swamped barrel, large early Ketland lock and brass mounts. The patchbox and carving are accented with silver wire inlays. The wrist inlay of silver is engraved with the owner's family crest. The stock is curly maple. Maple was quite often exported to Europe and was used on many English guns during the 18th century.
