Virginia Style Longrifle

by Clay Smith

.54 Caliber 44" Rice Barrel

This is a nice Virginia style rifle that is new and unfired. The stock is a very nice piece of curly maple with a dark stain. The top of the comb has flats extending from the buttplate going forward. The barrel is by Rice and is an oct-round profile 44" long in .54 caliber. It has a touch hole liner. The lock is by Mold & Gun Shop who assembles the locks for R. E. Davis Locks and sparks very well. It is typical of many of the imported English locks seen on original Virginia rifles of the Rev War period.

The rifle has been lightly aged and most of the brass parts have been engraved. The barrel has a nice grey patina with the rest of the steel parts being fire blued.

The rifle balances and holds very well.

Weight is 8 lbs. 7 ozs.  Pull is 13⅝".
