These are the barrels I use for my
kits. In stock and ready to ship.
They are copied from the John Bumford
trade gun (with the vine painted stock) and are typical of trade barrels of the mid to
late 18th century. They are custom made by Rice Barrels. They
measure 47" long, 1" at the breech with a tapered
octagonal section 10" long then turning round, tapering
to the muzzle which is 3/4". It has a wedding band at the transition
and a second one about 3" further down.
Very lightweight at only
3 lbs. 1
oz. for the 20 gauge
and 3 lbs. 8 oz. for the 24 gauge.
Available in 20 (.62) and 24 (.58)
gauge smoothbore only.
Each comes with a fitted breech plug.
