This trade gun is a style typically imported from England from the second quarter of the 18th century to early 19th century. This one was designed from original parts found in southeast America and from period documents. Typical features include sheet brass hardware nailed on instead of using screws. No entry thimble or nosecap. The barrels ranged from 30" to 48" long, octagon to round and from .50 to .62 smoothbore. The lock was generally round faced and did not have a pan arm or interior bridle.
